This "deal" was no deal, although happy for the 3 hostages and their families. The name of my historical novel about the Israeli betrayal of Yamit is actually titled Love and Betrayal. It doesn't look like Trump will have Israel's back. It is extremely upsetting.
It doesn't matter if Hamas adheres to the ceasefire agreement or not. Trump is not going to let Israel restart military action. It's done. It's over. Trump does not have Israel's back no matter the pronouncements of his nominees at their hearings, and by extension he doesn't have the USA's back in the fight against islamist extremism. Did you read where the Imam he chose to give the muslim convocation at the inauguration is a rabid antisemite and also calls for the destruction of Israel? Trump isn't proIsrael and isn't a philosemite. Trump is proTrump. Period.
Unfortunately, I think you're right. I saw this coming when he did his Dearborn outreach in the last couple weeks before the election. It's a mistake to trust him, and I'm glad I didn't.
Haviv is generally on target. But going in on Trump doesn’t mean that Trump has Israel’s back. It means that Trump is going to be president of the United States. He is the most powerful man in the world as of monday at noon est. Bibi cant piss him off. Especially since the opposition said they will support his government for the ceasefire so it doesnt matter if Smotrich and Ben Gvir leave
His words were the hostages better be released before he takes office. He said he did not want to “jeopardize the negotiation.” “The deal” was not part of his warning. In a few more days we will see if he makes good on his word.
He took out Solimani and he ended the terror campaign of Isis in Iraq. He is no friend of terrorists. He terminated the stupid agreement Barry Sotelo made with Iran. He recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
There is an awful amount of work to do in the region.
The betrayal you allude to is just a little premature.
When you write of betrayal are you referring to Afghanistan and our soldiers who fought and died there? How about our allies who we left behind to be hunted down by the Taliban? What of the women of Afghanistan?
It appears that the left in Israel is doing the arm twisting to get any deal as long as the hostages are released.
IMO to capitulate to the monsters will only beget more death and suffering in the future.
Israel has sacrificed its blood and treasure to stop the forces of evil that want to destroy it. She should not quit just at the moment victory is within reach.
Israel should reclaim Gaza and send the current residents, one and all, to Yemen or Syria. The US Navy can supply the transportation.
We arent talking about Biden or Obama. We are talking about Trump. The betrayal is Trump pushing this very bad Biden/Obama deal. When he said he wants the hostages home before inauguration, you would think it means all the hostages. But he pushed this deal because his hatred of Bibi is more important than him keeping his word. Also having that Qatari shill Wilkof as mideast envoy is also insulting. Does he think that because Wilkof is a Jew, he can Jew-wash the prohamas one sidedness crap coming out of this deal? He did post that holocaust denier from Tucker saying Bibi is responsible for all the wars in the middle east.
You want to turn away from the truth about Trump you go right ahead. Seems Ben Shapiro is also still living in fantasyland thinking Trump is going to allow Israel to restart military action when phase 2 of the deal implodes, as it is sure to. Trump promised no more wars on his watch. Ending wars is what he promised whether it makes sense or not. And btw don't forget the Afghanistan pull out was negotiated on Trump's watch. Biden may have implemented it disastrously but the entire idea and actual agreement came from Trump.
he reposted on truth social the discussion with that antisemite who appeared on the Tucker Carlson show that said that Bibi is the deep dark sob of the middle east responsible for all the wars.
I agree, and now have put my ass on the line. I just published a work called Title 18 Code 201. I do not know if will help but it is worth a shot. Shalom Dan
Great post. While I didn't vote for Trump, I surely thought he'd do better for Israel than this. You are correct about what motivates him, and it has nothing to do with honesty, morality, or truth.
As you wrote about truth, I couldn't help but recall Ehud's post yesterday relating Dugo's survival of the holocaust was due to his hope (https://rebrand.ly/c88exfi). During the brutal march from Auschwitz, Dugo stumbles into his uncle. Dubo's trousers are in shreds and his uncle tells him to find some trousers and they'll lay tefillin in the morning. He finds pants, but not the uncle. The point is because his faith remained in G-d, he was able to continue. And he did and recounted the events to Ehud.
The Tanakh has much to say about hope and trust, but it is never in another human. Psalm 33:20-22: "We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you."
Thanks for the compliment. I guess I go for the adage, God helps those who help themselves. (Not sure where that is from) The Jews waited for 2000 years for some help from God. It never came until they took matters into their own hands. Now every Israeli victory is a miracle from God. It would be nice if he was just a little more attentive so miracles are not needed at all for anyone in the world.

Exactly
> who thought when he threatened hell it was Israel he was threatening
I did. The question for the historians is, how did Trump squeeze profit out of this deal? Because it always comes down to what's profitable for Trump.
Let’s see what happens and whether Hamas which has never adhered to any ceasefire agree adheres to the terms of this agreement

Actually I pray I am wrong but I don’t think I am
I would hesitate despite my own very serious reservations about this deal to walk away from Trump so fast Take a look here https://www.timesofisrael.com/with-hostage-deal-netanyahu-is-going-all-in-on-trump/

Having is more on target than the rest of TOI which is decidedly defeatist secular and anti Netanyahu
