This post isn’t political, though to many it may seem so. It is just an idea I had when watching the news and the insanity that has erupted in Washington DC in the past 2 weeks. Well, ok it’s somewhat political, but not in the way you may think.
The meltdowns are incredible. The name calling is ridiculous. The screaming and childishness is embarrassing. I truly wish we were governed by grown ups. But alas we are not.
I don’t like grandstanding.
Grown ass people acting ridiculous to try to get on TV is nonsensical. Nothing says time to retire when you can’t tell the difference between the adults in front of a government office building having a press conference and 2 year olds tantruming because they don’t want to take a nap.
This is about our right to have thoughtful and comprehensive discussions about what is happening in the world. We haven’t had that in a very long time. In fact, it seems to have only gotten worse in the last 2 weeks and that is because those who lead the discussion are acting like infantile twits.
I don’t know if this is because the boomers (of which I am one) came of age in the 1960s and 70s where protests were the way they made their thoughts known. It seems that it has become de rigueur for college students to protest something. Of course, in today’s world the only thing college students seem to be protesting is to be in favor of Jewish genocide. Meanwhile, the lame ass school administrations trying to figure out how not to lose funding while they give lip service to protecting their Jewish students.
For chutzpah see under Cooper Union telling the courts that they didn’t have to do anything to protect Jewish students barricaded in their library because the Jews could go hide from the ProHamas protesters. The judge indignantly reminded Cooper Union that the year is 2025 not 1943. BTW-Cooper Union did not get the lawsuit dismissed.
Our elected aging boomers, who now seem to be everywhere when it comes to the news, do not make a case for how or why something is inappropriate, illegal or a rush to judgement. No. They stand in front of Congress, stamp their feet and chant. They also try to bum rush themselves into a federal building where they aren’t actually allowed to enter. (Being a member of Congress doesn’t entitle you to enter any federal building at anytime you want. And considering the deplorable state of education in this country tell me exactly what the Department of Education does that it needs to be protected at all costs?)
Sorry, but they all looked ridiculous. I can’t believe that one of them is a senator from my state. Ok, I can because he has been embarrassing NY for quite some time, not the least of which when he stood in the well of the Senate and demanded that the Prime Minister of an ally at war, resign in order to give cover to the Biden/Obama administration’s desire for regime change in Israel. Because what better way than to save Hamas and placate Iran than to get rid of a leader who understands Israel’s need to win an existential war for its survival?
(Then of course, when this same senator is called on the carpet by his constituents for that duplicitous speech, he whines that they- meaning NYers- didn’t bother to listen to the rest of the speech, which was supportive of Israel. AKA we who voted for him are simply stupid…This senator also put the kibosh on the legislation to define antisemitism and to sanction the ICC for its antisemitism. Mostly (my opinion) because the democrats didn’t want to upset their Jew-hating base and this so called “shomer of the Jewish People” happily played the democratic apparatchik. I am also wondering just what did this man do for NY state, anyway? The only thing I can think of that he did for his state is…..well I can’t find anything. If anyone knows please leave a comment.)
All these octogenarian legislators do is make everyone think, hmmm….there really should be an age limit for Congress, or at the least there should be term limits.
The news media is also to blame for the hypervigilant overstated hysteria that is the daily news broadcast. Remember these are the same people who couldn’t find evidence of Biden’s mental decline, couldn’t find Kamala Harris for 3 1/2 years until she became the nominee, decided that Hunter’s laptop was a hoax, helped cancel people who held differing views than left wing progressive nonsense, yet at the same time happily broadcast Hamas’ propaganda about what is happening in Gaza without any evidence at all. Seriously, the ghosts of Pravada are jealous.
On another vein, have you seen the pictures coming out of the Israeli hostages? It looks like the only ones starved were the Jews.
Don’t believe me? Why now, that Israel has withdrawn from certain parts of Gaza and Palestinians are allowed back in the north, has none of the news channels from around the world gone into the strip to verify the famine or the genocide? They should have massive access to starving, dieing arabs if that were the case? Shouldn’t they are least look somewhat like the Jewish hostages we saw last week? Wouldn’t the “Palestinian” supporters want to document these crimes for the ICC or the World Court? When is Amal Clooney and her husband, the erstwhile actor and democrat bonvivant George Clooney, going in to make sure that what they accused Israel of doing is being verified by sending in a movie crew?
Instead the world is simply taking the word of who and what? The UN? The Red Cross? The UN who fired an expert who refused to say what is happening in Gaza was genocide, because it wasn’t. The ICRC who refused to visit the Israeli hostages, and who when meeting with hostage families chastised them for not caring about the Palestinians in gaza. The reports from these groups simply is not good enough!
There is no one going into the strip to verify famine or genocide because it was always a lie. A lie that the world, in their judenhass, was happy to eat up and embrace. Wouldn’t the news media want to go into the strip to verify the human carnage? Wouldn’t they want to show the civilians pulled from the rubble as the Palestinians put their lives back together? There are no real pictures. Just the Pallywood nonsense that we have seen since the beginning of the war. (Also, interesting to note, that on Holocaust Remembrance day most dignitaries and news outlets never even muttered the word Jew.)
Also have you seen the pretty little hijab clad Palestinian girl on all the news channels happily excited to go back to her home in north Gaza? Does she look like she has been starving? Her pearly white teeth are better cared for than mine. I don’t remember victims of starvation from the Holocaust or Srebrenica having such good dental care.
The news media is ridiculous and these ancient politicians are useless. This isn’t even about Trump. We knew what he was going to do and he is doing it. It is the “opposition’s” refusal to actually be productive and to simply stomp their feet is absurd.
You know what works. What noone is really talking about. The lawsuits brought by adults. The quiet, under discussed actions by those who are going to the courts to challenge the executive orders. Some have worked, like the judge who put on hold the change to birthright citizenship (I honestly didn’t think Trump thought it would go through. The President doesn’t have the right to change Constitutional Law anymore than Biden had the right to declare a new Constitutional amendment), or the judge who put a stop to firing, or putting on leave, the civil service workers from USAID. There are rules and regulations that guard the civil service workers’ rights. Laws are paramount.
Is Trump pushing the borders of what powers the executive can have in our system of checks and balances? Of course he is, but no more than any other executive has done. Obama famously said that if congress didn’t pass the legislations he wanted, he has a phone and a pen and he would take care of it himself….and he tried, so did Biden.
And yes, we can discuss how USAID has been used as a slush fund by the democrats for the last decade since Obama. Monies going to the Tides foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation, to build a cement factory in Gaza (wonder where all those tunnels came from), money sent to the Taliban, to the PLO, for DEI, and LGBT rights in Muslim countries, or to create a sesame street in Iraq when the majority of American 4th graders can’t read at grade level.
But, I’m not so sure that simply shutting everything down during the review is the compassionate way to go. There are some USAID programs that actually do help people around the world and these programs are now in jeopardy. Sorry, not sorry, but I don’t want to see starving or sick children because the US didn’t send the monies it promised. (And yes, Americans need government help too. Heck, it’s why I am happy to pay my taxes, to help my fellow Americans. But it is important to remember, that sometimes you do need a scalpel, and not a sledgehammer, when doing things.)
Yes, there should be a review of the budget. But maybe use what we Jews call sechel in doing it. Roughly translated it means to use common sense. Or in the modern lexicon it means when you do something do it by thinking things through, in other words, don’t be an asshole.
Listen Obama commissioned a review of the budget. It is called Simpson-Bowles. But not one politico was brave enough to enact anything suggested. Maybe instead of abruptly cutting off aide, which does end up harming some very vulnerable people, Musk should have begun with that little report? I am sure that the double, triple, quadruple unnecessary different agency departments are still there. If anything they probably have expanded over time. But then again, it would not have made for good TV would it have, for him and his legions to simply go through that study and figure out what to cut and how.
And no, don’t carry on about an unelected billionaire. Whether you like Musk or not, it’s not like the democrats don’t have their own billionaires. The democratic party billionaire funders were just not so much in your face. They just paid for NGOS, and the political campaigns to get their progressive friends elected to positions be it DAs or mayors or governors. Simply because the democratic billionaires were not always on prime time doesn’t mean they weren’t there pushing their own agendas, just like Musk is pushing his. (And if you had any illusion about the future of the democratic party righting itself since this election, the new DNC head is there to fix the bruised egos of the democratic players who just spent over 1 billion dollars to lose a presidential election to an adjudicated felon and womanizer. Not to fix their platform, but to assuage egos that have been badly bruised.)
So what do I make of this kerfuffle, hullabaloo, melee and unbelievable meltdown of epic proportions that has been the last 2 weeks? The world is being led by some very unserious people; Clowns, charlatans, and dissemblers.
We, those who are left with thoughts in our head; those of us not drunk on eternal outrage; those of us who understand that to move forward we need quiet maturity and to follow the rule of law, basically, we need to Hold the Line.
Law must be brought back to work for the people and the republic. It is the only thing that can truly be our shield wall.
IT IS DAY 492 OF THE HOSTAGES BEING STARVED AND HELD IN THE TERROR DUNGEONS OF GAZA 🎗️

there's always nuance to be discussed in any situation, and it's right to call out overreactions and how poorly things are being managed by our elected officials for many many years. but Musk should absolutely not have access to every govt agency and control of all the code and financial data and movement. no other private citizen has ever had this much power to decide literally every on the ground policy of the US govt. he has no legal right despite any EO, and he is committing thousands of crimes per minute in doing so. oversight and reform? absolutely. but this is the biggest scandal of my lifetime, and possibly the history of the nation.
Love 💕 this. I too am disgusted with the performances of childishness. It is not leadership. My Democratic friends have all gone insane. I’m sad my dad died in late December but I’m glad he didn’t have to see this.
