Have you listened to this podcast? It’s very long. I’ve only heard some of it but it sounds like you would really like it. Have you heard it already?

OMGosh, no I haven't. Thank you so much to pointing me to it. BTW the ADL had to give LVMH a special award for fighting antisemitism because of the rumors that they were Nazi collaborators.

This podcast goes through the history of handbags, like you did. Discusses marketing.

It a podcast about how big businesses made their money in general and in this one he mentions how luxury is different from every other industry-because usually the goal is to manufacture things more cheaply so you can lower prices and sell more, but with luxury it’s the opposite.

Like Coco Chanel. Anyone in Europe during WWII was one or the other.

Except I did read that Henri Matisse just went to the countryside and stayed out of it. One of his kids fought in the resistance. I bought a print of his during the lockdowns so i had to make sure he wasn’t on the wrong side.

Its quite the tightrope isnt it? My favorite perfume is Channel #5. I stopped using it once I saw that she was a Nazi collaborator. I had a comment that I should know that Channel is proIsrael. I did some research and went on the AISH website and they had a full story about how the Chanel company is owned by the Wertheimer family and how Karl Lagerfeld worked very hard to rid to fight against antisemitism. So I am now using my Chanel #5 again and ordered my favorite face cream once again. I am so happy :)

It is a tightrope. Some things feel like worshipping an icon so Nazi involvement is just unpalatable. But otherwise it’s a thorny issue.
