If coffee were a religion….This place would be a temple.

Kona, Hawaii

Love this. But unfortunately, I think I am one of the only people in the world that doesn't like Kona coffee. Possibly because the cup I had wasn't brewed properly.

I once had a Romanian lady in my English class and she told me how much she missed the smell of the coffee brewing. The coffee makers replaced that sensory delight in the morning.

Wonder what she used to use to make coffee. My drip coffee maker has a terrific aroma.

That first and only cup starts the day. I grind beans procured from my local independent barista. After years of resisting the advice of consistency, I now weigh the water and grind - good advice. Dripped through the Cuisinart and poured into a mug tempered with boiling water. Morning satisfaction. ☕

That sounds like a nice ritual. Something akin to the Japanese tea ceremony.

Currently, I enjoy Peet’s, the Major Dickinson’s blend in the plastic cups that might/could give me cancer down the road. I read something about heat and plastic as a bad combo. I also like their dark roast. My early foray into coffee was during Passover when I had matzoh pieces with a very milked down,Folgers or Nescafé, coffee in a bowl. It was the children’s cereal. I officially became a coffee drinker when I was pregnant with my first child many decades ago. One cup a day is best, however, the midday coffee does provide more energy.

I have a friend who loves Peets. I tried it, but it just didn't do it for me.

Well those microplastics are gonna kill us. Most of the to go cups are styrofoam or some version of it so that cant be so good either. Since I basically drink my coffee at home I keep with ceramic cups. Waiting to hear how that is going to kill me one day...

My mother tells a story that the only way her mother got her to eat hot cereal as a toddler was to give her a spoon of milky coffee to 1 spoon of cereal. We start coffee young in my family!😊

My father used to say decaf was simply coloured water.

thank you! I loved reading this. I've been starting my day with green tea since last october. I think it's a form of self flagellation. funny note, when I was about 20 years I went to a party in Santa Fe New Mexico and had the opportunity to drink chateau Rothschild wine. I've never since enjoyed a glass of wine....they all taste "meh".

Thanks so much for reading. I am so glad you enjoyed it.

BTW green tea has more caffeine than coffee.

They all do taste meh in comparison to Lafite Rothschild. I think that is why the ice cube infused wine doesn't bother me so much😉 I just don't even try to find anything to compare
