Years ago someone asked me what I would have done differently as a parent of special needs children. I replied, “I would have been much braver much sooner.”
Was it really that I wasn’t brave? I think the issue was more about accepting the truth that my son was autistic. That my hopes and dreams for him changed. At the time, I had no idea what we were going to do and how we were going to help him. But once I had a direction I knew what needed to be done and we did it. And continue to do it.
Does that make me brave? Nah. It makes me a parent. Are we parents brave at times? I don’t think of it as bravery so much as this is what you signed up for when you chose to bring that life into the world.
They say parenting is the only job in the world, where you know you have succeeded when you make yourself superfluous. I don’t know if we ever make ourselves unneeded. There are many different kinds of needs, and many different aspects to the parent-child relationship as they grow, as you age, and the world changes.
Now there are many things in life that we attribute to bravery. From soldiers in battle, to first responders. I mean who walks into a burning building, or who runs toward gunfire? The brave do. It’s why society honors such actions.
Brave is also standing up to bullies and refusing to be cowed. Sometimes it is the child on the playground, or the underling at work who needs to stand their ground. We like to think that bullies are a thing of childhood as well. But the child who is a bully grows to become an adult who is a bully.
Bullies come in many disguises as well. They can pretend to be your friend. They can go behind your back to try to harm you without you even knowing it. Bullies, frenemies all the same thing. These are merely small souled people who when given any kind of power use it to the detriment of others. Insecure, spineless, those who function through malfeasance.
Bravery is taking charge of your world and knowing that you are right. No amount of hate filled rhetoric or piling on will stop you from taking a stand. No threats, or intimidation will prevent the brave from taking on the powers that would otherwise ruin their future.
I think it’s time we honored those once again that stand their ground.
This is why I despise “political correctness.” This is why I disdain the “word police.” Yes, I know you can’t use the “r” word around me, but that’s not because there is no such thing as “retardation.” (We know this is a reality. It is a scientific fact.) It’s because the “r” word is used to denigrate others. To dehumanize those who have so frequently been dehumanized in the past. So in truth, it’s not so much the word itself, it is how it is used.
I understand too, that the word police would like us to not stigmatize people. That is all fine and good if you actually add to society rather than take something with your words. But playing with words does not solve a problem. Changing “homeless” to “unhoused” doesn’t create a roof over someone’s head. It merely makes the user feel better about themselves.
I honestly think I am also not alone in my need to upend those who would control how a person thinks or what a person feels. We are entitled to our feelings and we are entitled to stand for the truth. It doesn’t make us evil. It doesn’t make us hate filled.
Moreover, how is it that it is now brave to like your country and western values? I know that the Bill of Rights is a magnificent document. I know that while imperfect, the US Constitution is a wonderful document, not the least of which is because it can be amended. But suddenly it is considered brave to stand by values that gives equal rights to every person, because the “in thing” is to tear down these values.
Why is it brave to say that not all cultures are equal? All cultures are not equal. It is simply the truth. Some are downright disgusting and should be held as the moral inversions that they are. And I am not sorry to say so. If your culture has to denigrate others (religion, skin color, gender, ability) in order to feel superior, then your culture is worthy of derision. End of.
If your culture celebrates the mass slaughter, rape, mutilation, burning alive of babies as some glorious act of resistance, then you are beyond what the devil has decided is evil. You have bypassed what Dante has seen as hell and have become evil incarnate. That there are still so many who celebrate such evil in the west is why the west is destroying itself from within. That there are so many in the west carrying water for hatred, and lieing about the truth is why there needs to be a hell. There needs to be some kind of just deserts for backing true evil.
That it is considered brave to say these things out loud is what is wrong with the world in which we live. There is actually a sickness about it. That so many are afraid to say the truth, that the powers that be need to tiptoe around the facts. These powerful elites are in only all too happy to traffick in lies and conspiracies and are cowardly in the face of worldwide antisemitism. Oh they talk a good game, but it is only talk and no action.
I often wonder why that is. Read, Antisemitism
Is it because when ire and hatred is first aimed at the Jew then it means nothing to anyone else? The world simply doesn’t care. They feign disgust, but do nothing about it because it might cost them votes at the ballot box. We all know the embedded judenhass of the west. It is so easy for so many to climb on board the rocketing train to demand that the Jew just lay down and die. How angry they get and how defamatory the western elites get because the Jew will no longer walk their babies into gas chambers. How dare the Jew fight back! And it is brave in the world today to stand up for the Jew. Why is that?
People lose their jobs, have their homes targeted, need private security when they call Hamas evil. And the powers that be do….nothing or downright go along with the haters. They act as if none of this is about them.
I often wonder how western self hatred and Jew-hatred are tied together.
Just remember, on October 8, 2023 there were gleeful protests in favor of Hamas’ genocide against Israel, on January 2, 2025, there were gleeful protests in favor of the ISIS slaughter in New Orleans. All in Times Square in New York City.
Why is it even brave to discuss how these things are connected and how we are bullied into being quiet? What is wrong with the leadership of the west that they are so happy to denigrate their own existence because the first victims of the end of western civilization are the Jews? Sadly, the Jews will not be the last victims of this hatred. But the Jews will also not go quietly, not anymore.
It is a lesson the west needs to learn and evil needs to learn as well. You in the west really think that when this evil comes for Jewish children they aren’t coming for your children as well? Do not think for a moment that your children will have a future if you don’t fight back (just ask the victims of the grooming gangs in England if you think this is just about the Jews). These haters created this zero sum game, and we in the west need to play to win.
I have decided that bravery means many things to many people. Bravery manifests itself in different ways throughout your lifetime.
It can be as simple as getting over the fear of speaking in public, leaving a bad relationship, demanding a proper education for your children, segueing into a new career at an older age, or fighting a chronic illness. Being brave is not always recognized as something noble or extraoirdinary.
Sometimes being brave is simply waking up in the morning to face the truth of the day to come.
Being brave is fighting the good fight. Knowing that there are rights and wrongs in this world and that not everything is gray.
Being brave is standing up and shouting I will not be bullied into silence!
Western values are human rights values!
Western freedoms are the rights of every human being!
The west has a right to fight those hell bent on its destruction!
We need leaders who can fight the good fight. Not run and hide.
We need another Churchill. A leader who is brave enough to understand that we are in a war for our civilization and that to turn away is to doom our children’s future.
