You might want to start reading or rereading the Hebrew Bible for entertainment rather than watch the paltry TV offerings these days. The love stories rarely turn out well, but they are neither maudlin nor horrible, simply exquisitely crafted tales of how people deal poorly with their passions. They are also the template of western literature and the DNA of the Jewish people. I love retelling them to modern audiences and intent to restart doing that come this fall. Perhaps you have a Jewish community in North Carolina who would like to invite me to perform for them. I'd like that.
For some reason I thought you did because you had mentioned retiring to the Outer Banks in one fo your substacks after having left New York, but maybe I got that wrong too. My misunderstanding. Those weekly parashas are great, are they not? Even the Book of Leviticus has its share of horror stories. And wait until you get to Deuteronomy. :)

I did join the Simchat Torah challenge so have been reading the weekly parsha. Sorry don't live in NC.

That is where I hope to retire once I leave NY. In my extreme old age. I think they are up to Numbers now.
You do truly write beautifully 🎯 👏🏻
I just finished reading Sense and Sensibilities… again.
Thanks again.
Honestly, I don't read Jane Austen, I watch the movies (or series).
